Coniston Road parking restrictions

by Lib Dem team on 17 May, 2010

The Council has been listening to the views of all residents on Coniston Road, Gatley and nearby roads about the parking restrictions that should apply.

The latest proposals, which I’ve discussed with Graham Price at the Council, will be sent out to residents for comment and, if people are willing to go with them, we should be able to get them in place once the legal process has been completed.

It would be helpful for efficient use of parking space near Gatley station if the whole of the car park on the East side of the station could be levelled and marked out. I tried to park there midmorning on a Wednesday a few weeks ago and found the place fairly disorganised and space used inefficiently. There was no marked space free but I found a space on top of a grassy mound and just made it to my train on time.
If parking spaces are organised properly, there will be less spill over of parking to nearby streets and the likelihood of impeding access to the property at the North end of the car park will be greatly reduced.

    Hi Stuart,

Unfortunately (for drivers, anyway), the grassy area isn’t owned by the council or by Network Rail but by Electricity Northwest, which also owns all the electricty substations.
