Thousands flock to glorious Gatley Festival

by Lib Dem team on 3 July, 2011

What a day! Perfect weather, great organisation for the festival, lots of stalls and, most importantly, thousands of people flocking in and enjoying themselves.

It was great to see so many people there, and to support good causes like the Together Trust and St Ann’s Hospice.

Thanks to everyone who dropped by the Lib Dem stand.

As a start, here are a few photos from the day.

Best parade and event ever – well done to all the organisers. Just out of interest did the Council contribute any money to it. I remember reading something about a dispute. Same again next year very enjoyable and the Gatley village spirit returned

We’ve been very happy to support the festival for the last few years and this year we gave it £1000.

We’re a little concerned that with a limited amount of money to go around a lot of very worthy local groups, it may not be fair to give such a large chunk of our funds to one event and have others miss out, so I’ve mentioned to the organisers that we may not be able to give quite so much next year, though I certainly hope we can still give something.

Am sure many attended, but, too litter-louts also did !

  4. Iain Roberts says:

Too true, Dave – but always the way. We cleared our patch and filled a couple of bin bags with rubbish.

  5. Phil Johnson says:

As Dave says, the litter was dreadful.

Also, are the stall holders vetted ? My 14-year old son was sold a BB gun – clealy marked for over-18’s only – and with a comment from the vendor which indicated that he was aware of the illegality of the sale.
