School admissions closing date extended due to software problems

by Lib Dem team on 28 October, 2011

From Stockport Council:

Temporary closure of the on line admissions system and extension of application deadline

Along with a number of other local authorities we have experienced problems with the school’s on line admissions system software. This has resulted in a temporary closure to the system.

We are hoping that the system faults will be resolved by next week and the system will be back in operation.  However in order to be fair to parents, we have now extended the closing date for secondary admissions, from the 31st October, to midnight 6th November 2011.

All parents who have not yet applied for a school place have been sent a paper application and freepost envelope to return their preferences to us. Whilst unfortunate, this enforced additional reminder to parents may reduce the number of late applications the authority receives after the closing date. The website has been updated to inform parents of the changes and messages have been sent to all headteachers. The admissions contact line is 217 6028.
