Hall Street Green secures £42k grant

by Lib Dem team on 21 November, 2011

From the Friends of Hall Street Green:

Hall Street Green is behind Cheadle church and the Friends of Hall Street Green have secured a grant of £42,476.60 from the Big Lottery’s Community Spaces programme.

This means that we can:

· Reroute and re-lay the path to provide a circuit which can be used for exercise and provide a surface which is safe for all users.
· Re-new perimeter railings.
· Install a wildlife area.
· Construct a bog garden.
· Provide seats and a waste bin.
· Re-plant dead and diseased trees.
· Refurbish flower beds.
· Replace the street lights on the green with heritage style lamps.
· Involve local primary school children in helping a local artist to design a carved seat and interpretation panels.

Work on the Green has already started with the tree work and a contractor to do the paths and landscaping has been appointed.
The landscaping should be started soon and completed in March 2012, when new bulbs and flower beds can be planted.

This will all be in preparation for a launch event in June 2012.

If anyone would like more information they can look at the Friends of Hall Street Green web site.

Thats great for the people around Hall St. but what about all the pedestrians (especially parents with prams and walking young children), who have to wade through the giant puddles that collect on the Stockport Road pavements between Hays flower shop and the Conservative Club, Cheadle due to poor laying of the tarmac in the first place. A complaint I have made many times as you know.
