Around Cheadle village you’ll see quite a few lines being repainted and some signs being changed or erected. It’s the final part of work by the Council to check that the parking restrictions that should be in place across the village centre are correctly applied and legally enforceable on the ground.
In some cases lines weren’t painted solidly, or had just worn away. In others, a mistake had been made at some point in the past so what was on the ground didn’t match the legal orders.
For example, there’s been an issue with the line at the end of Chapel Street, by the junction with Wilmslow Road, that meant we couldn’t enforce the parking restriction – we’ve often seen a van parked there, able to evade the law on a technicality.
These issues are being sorted out and we’ll be watching to see that the parking rules are enforced.

I’ve seen a list of Parking Restrtion defects in Cheadle which shows there are 32 errors. Are you addressing all of them
Yes, I believe so.
Unfortunately there are certain people who think parking illegally does not apply to them. They are still parking on double yellow lines in Cheadle.
True – and our traffic wardens hand out tickets when they’re spotted, which isn’t every single time but is on a regular basis.
