Tatton cinema bus stops to be merged

by Lib Dem team on 8 April, 2013

The two bus stops outside the former Tatton cinema are to be amalgamated, Transport for Greater Manchester have told us.

There will be no changes to the bus timetable or to the buses using the stop.  The first bus stop (as buses arrive) will be removed and all buses will use the second stop, which will be updated with the additional information.

The spare bus shelter can then be used elsewhere on the bus network.

Smart move – not before time – no change there vis a vis bus times !

  2. Claire Healey says:

Two bus shelters are needed. Just today, there were two bus shelters full of people waiting. I’m not looking forward to standing in the wind and rain once the shelter is removed.

It would be a good idea if the two bins at the bus stop could be replaced with the sort that are covered over. The bin bags are alays blowing inside out, scattering the rubbish about. I have previously rescued bin bags that have blown out of the bins and down the road!

CH. We must catch the bus at different times !
How many of those who stood outside the shelter did so because they be uncomfortable in other peoples company ? – they should not be pandered to.

  4. Claire Healey says:

I didn’t say people were stood outside the shelter, I said both shelters were full of people.

If any of my fellow travellers were uncomfortable in other people’s company, they didn’t show it as we were certainly nice and close!

Also, I’m sure we do catch the bus at different times – it would be quite a coincidence if you got the same bus as I do every day.

    CH. Is that a ‘come-on’ ?!

  6. Paula Isherwood says:

If we have only one ‘bus shelter then there is no excuse for ‘bus drivers getting shirty with passengers who hadn’t realised that they were in the wrong shelter. I’ve been given a lecture by drivers and so have my friends.

There are only seven ‘buses per hour at the Tatton stop and other ‘bus stops enroute to Stockport cope adequately with one stop. We can’t compare ourselves to Cheadle who have considerably more ‘buses.

Surely it will cost more to relocate the extra shelter (remove/clean-up/transport/refit) than buying new!

  8. Jennifer says:

David. Quite! It seems to me that there are people with more money than sense!
