Work starts on new house near Gatley Station

by Lib Dem team on 3 May, 2014

Work has started on building a new house on land at the end of Brentwood Drive, Gatley (on the South Park Road estate) and near to Gatley Station.

We’re glad to see the work progessing – the site has long been a problem for fly-tipping and vandalism so this should it brought into productive use.

Planning permission was applied for late in 2012 and granted in early 2013.

Can you clarify the position re the path. On the plan it appears to be blocked off either side of the crossover. Is that correct? And, if so, is that a council decision and can it be reviewed? This is a much used route to get to/from the station and the village.

    Hi John,

I agree the plan’s not entirely clear, but no the path won’t be blocked off. The path will be widened by the exit to ensure visibility for and of vehicles entering and leaving the property. (Where it says “new crossover” this is the new, wider, section of path).

    Iain,
Glad to see the land is finally being turned from an eyesore to a dwelling.

Can I just bring fo your attention that the road sign on Gatley Road at its junction with Delamere Road still shows a two lane layout ahead where there are in fact now three lanes. Are the Highways Department planning to replace the sign?
