Cheadle Area Committee report back, 19th April 2016

by Lib Dem team on 19 April, 2016

What was decided at this evening’s Cheadle Area Committee

  • A petition for residents parking from Greenbank Road, Gatley was handed in – the council will now investigate to see if it meets the criteria.
  • All Hallows Church on Councillor Lane was awarded £1,000 towards upgrading their kitchen (total cost of the project is £13,082).
  • Planning application 60950 – two storey rear extension for 100 Styal Road, Gatley. The application was recommended for approval and will be decided at the full Planning & Highways Committee.
  • The proposals for yellow lines on Queens Road, Cheadle Hulme (the turning head south of the Orrishmere Road junction) were approved.
  • There was a discussion about the flagpole residents had erected on a council plant bed at the junction of Jackson Street and Platt Street, at the request of Cllr Pantall. There was broad agreement with the report, which we’ve included below.
  • Application for a charity fund-raising event on Scholes Fields was approved. The Co-op Bank wants to hold an “it’s a knockout” family fun day to raise money for MIND on 11th June 2016. The event is for Co-op employees and their families only.
  • Application to hold the annual Heald Green festival on the Outwood Road playing fields, 25th June 2016 was approved.

    This is ridiculous.
Parking is a dreadful issue in Gatley and this roads residents must have known and understood the implications of buying a property with no drive way.
The vets has been on Greenbank Road for many years – many more years than the majority of residents who have chosen to live in properties nearby.
You cannot go round turning roads into residents only parking permit schemes simply because you chose a house with no drive!
I sincerely hope the council deal with more pressing road problems like the Kingsway junction, the increasingly dangerous Horse and Farrier crossing and lastly the issues surrounding parking problems generally in Gatley without making even less space available to suit some individuals who can then move and leave the problem behind them.
