Stockport Council 2012-13: Executive and committee positions

by Lib Dem team on 18 May, 2012

The local elections are over and it’s the time of year to decide which councillors (and others) sit on which committees and perform which roles for the coming year.

The parties on the council have all agreed who will be doing what – the roles are traditionally formally approved at the Annual Council Meeting, which for this year is next Tuesday afternoon.

The Executive positions are:

  • Sue Derbyshire will replace Dave Goddard as leader of the Council on Tuesday. Sue will retain responsibility for Finance
  • Martin Candler: Deputy Leader, Governance and Corporate Services
  • Daniel Hawthorne: Adult Care Services
  • Shan Alexander: Lifelong learning and achievement
  • Kevin Hogg: Public Realm
  • John Pantall: Health and Wellbeing
  • Kevin Dowling: Children and Young People
  • Iain Roberts: Economic Development and Regeneration
  • Mark Weldon: Supporting Communities
  • Stuart Bodsworth: Sustainable Future

The document below has all those proposals.

  1. Les Leckie says:

Who is on Fire Authority, please?

  2. B. A. Horstmann says:

Who is taking the Transport role you had Iain?

  3. Iain Roberts says:

Les – the Lib Dem nominee for the Fire Authority is Wendy Meikle. I don’t know who’s being put forward by the opposition parties.

Bryan – The Transport Policy role stays within my new portfolio. The part that’s fixing potholes and pavements is in Public Realm so goes to Kevin Hogg.
