Cleaning up our noticeboards – can you help?

by Lib Dem team on 29 May, 2012

The Lib Dem team have been out and about over the last week cleaning up the public noticeboards in Cheadle & Gatley. We’ve given them a good clean and cleared off all the out-of-date and commercial advertising that shouldn’t be there.

Unfortunately, it proved a little beyond our cleaning skills to restore them to their original glory – some old tape and glue marks proved too stubborn and the plastic coating is breaking away in places – but they’re a lot better than they were.

We’re looking for local volunteers who can adopt a noticeboard. We think it’s no more than 30 minutes work once a month or so to remove out-of-date or inappropriate notices and give the board a quick wipe over to clean it. If you think you might be able to lend a hand, please let us know – contact Iain on 07958 570202 or cllr.iain.roberts@stockport.gov.uk.

The Stockport Council noticeboards are located at:

  • Bottom of Gatley Hill
  • Tesco end of Gatley Green
  • Under the railway bridge on Gatley Road
  • Opposite the shops on Foxland Road
  • Outside the White Hart, Cheadle (this one is already being looked after, and promoting Cheadle village
  • Outside Jubilee Park, Stockport Road

No-one’s forcing you to help – though I’m glad to say there are a lot of people who do help improve our area in all sorts of ways.

Great about these but how about cleaning up the very unsightly electric sub stations!! the one on Frances Street is a disgrace as are quite a few in Cheadle area. It is IMPOSSIBLE tio find out WHO is responsible for this, and believe me I have tried!!ANY ONE OUT THERE CAN HELP??

  4. Iain Roberts says:

    Hi Julie,

Electricity Northwest are responsible for maintaining their substations – the challenge has always been to get them to fix the problems, particularly with yours, and it’s been very frustrating.
