More foster carers needed for teenagers

Stockport Council is running an initiative to recruit more foster carers for teenagers.

The ‘Create Memories and Foster Teenagers’ initiative is running throughout December and includes powerful messages on billboards and buses.

Councillor Kevin Dowling, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Children & Young People, said: “We are committed to recruiting more foster carers in Stockport. Like most areas across the country we are in particular need of foster carers for teenagers. We are always interested in hearing from anyone who is thinking of considering fostering to contact the Council for more information.”

An open evening is being held on 7th February 2013 at the Village Hotel, Cheadle from 6.30pm to 8.00pm for anyone interested in fostering teenagers or finding out more information about fostering in general.

For more information about becoming a foster carer, contact the Council’s Fostering team on 0161 947 4646 or visit www.stockport.gov.uk/fostering
