Your Lib Dem team for Cheadle West & Gatley Learn more

For several years the leaders of the ten Greater Manchester councils have each taken on a portfolio within the Combined Authority. This model is set to continue under Devo Manc, with a mayor leading the Combined Authority and the ten leaders sitting on the mayor’s cabinet.
Up to now, it’s not been easy to find out which leader has which responsibility. That needs to change, and the Lib Dems are campaigning for the new Combined Authority to be far more transparent in its operation and work harder to make sure the people of Greater Manchester know what it does, how it does it and who they can hold to account.
Here are the current (2014/15) portfolio holders at the Greater Manchester Combined Authority. Stockport’s leader, Cllr Sue Derbyshire, leads on planning, housing and environment across Greater Manchester.

No mention of IR on the list – guess he has no excuse not to ‘pull his finger out’ – for the ‘benefit’ of Cheadle and Gatley now then !
If it looks like, if it sounds like, if it works like a County Council – then it should be such – and the only such in ‘GM Land’ !
Not a county council – no separate tier. Some people prefer that model to the one being proposed, but they are quite different.
Appreciate the I do Iain, but doesn’t really mean much to me as a table list.
Is there a spread of political parties, for example? I’m guessing most roles will be Labour?

It would be good to know which Councils the portfolio holders are from as well as their political parties, as suggested by Alan above.
All the leaders are Labour except for Sue Derbyshire (Lib Dem) and Sean Anstee (Conservative).
The Councils are:
Peter Smith: Wigan
Cliff Morris: Bolton
Sean Anstee: Trafford
Mike Connolly: Bury
Richard Leese: Manchester
Jim McMahon: Oldham
Sue Derbyshire: Stockport
Kieran Quinn: Tameside
Ian Stewart: Salford
Richard Farnell: Rochdale
In all cases, the portfolio holders are working to the agreed objectives of the Combined Authority (i.e. what all ten leaders have agreed to) and for the benefit of the whole of Greater Manchester, in the same way that councillors who serve on the Executives/Cabinets of their councils are working for the whole of their borough, not just their ward.
