A local resident had spotted that card driving down Daylesford Road were often turning into Barcheston (by Broadway) without pausing to check for traffic, leading to some near misses. The Give Way lines at the junction had worn away and people just didn’t realise they should stop.
Graham and the Lib Dem team have now had the lines repainted and we’re looking at some other issues around that junction.
Please let us know of any places where repainting lines would improve safety.

I have lived at 32 Broadway, opposite Barcheston Rd, for many years.
I recently received a council letter concerning parking near this junction being a danger to traffic. I agree and I am aware the situation is worsening.
Parking should be banned for at least 30 metres in each direction from this junction and there should be a stop sign on Barcheston for traffic entering Broadway.
Please come and look, anytime, because cars are parked 24/7

Thanks Geoff – the Lib Dem team raised the issue with the council after concerns from a local resident and we’re glad the consultation letters have gone out. We do see the junction on a very regular basis and we agree that the parking has got worse, so hopefully this will improve the situation.
Thanks for the reply. The council proposes to stop parking 10 metres either side of the junction. This not enough. At the moment there are three cars parked between 10 and 20 metres from the corners.
The no parking zone should be at least 30 metres in all directions from the corner of Barcheston and Broadway.

Thanks Geoff – if that’s the view of residents that comes back from the consultation, we’ll take it into account.
Yes this was much needed – thank you
Given it is access to 2 schools, Daylesford Road need further safety improvements:
1. White lines down the middle on the bend at Daylesford Cresent.
2. Painted speed humps & red paint at Barcheston, Daylesford Cresent & Daylesford Close – Ideally if money could be made available, make them in to raised junctions
At the very top of Windsor Avenue where it joins Clifton Drive. The traffic from Windsor should stop and give way but the lines have almost disappeared completely.
