It was a great pleasure to be at the official opening of the new CDL office building in Kings Reach, Stockport (near the Pyramid).

CDL is a great Stockport success story – if you use an insurance comparison site, the chances are their software is powering it. Led by Tom Hogg, CDL is also one of the most community minded companies around. With over 500 employees, they’ve sunk over £100,000 into improving the path along the Mersey near their site, they’ve build a very eco-friendly office and employ a great many local people. Whenever I’ve spoken to employees, I’ve been told it’s a very good company to work for.

Two years ago I held the ceremonial silver spade at the turf-cutting ceremony for the new building – today I saw it complete and full of employees. Tom Hogg made mention of how supportive Stockport Council has been throughout the life of the company and I certainly hope we can continue that support both for CDL and for all the other businesses creating jobs and improving our area.

Should you have the chance to visit, you might want to take a look at the lightbox art installation across all three floors – it’s all home-grown too, designed and realised by students at Stockport College.
